Wild Violets ~ Viola Odorata

Today mama, Yahchanna, and I went foraging for wild violet's,
we found a whole bunch! We didn't find them in direct sun light,
we found them in a shaded areas, they come in different variety's
of colors, Such as, white, blue, purple, yellow,
lavender, and red. This is my first video, and I was really nervous!
I was so nervous that I forgot to mention the leaves
are heart shaped, and the plant only grows
four inches high. So if you ever see a heart
shaped leaf on a vine or a tall plant, you
know that it isn't a violet plant.
You can harvest them three month's out of the year,
April, May, and June.
The violet has over nine hundred species,
and what I under stand is only the yellow violet has a look a like
which is the buttercup, which is DEADLY poisonous!

Some medicinal properties of the violet are:

  • anti-inflammatory which means
it will help relieve swelling, pain, and redness do to injury or illness
  • expectorant- An expectorant helps to dissolve the
thick mucus caused by a respiratory infection.
  • diuretic- a diuretic helps to remove
extra water build up in the tissues of the body.
  • laxative- helps to induce a bowel movement or to
    loosen the stools from constipation.
  • softens and smooths the skin
This a close up of a violet plant
