Music Videos for TKM

                I have made a lot of new songs in the past year, I thought it would be nice if I made them into music videos and share them on TKM! Those who went to the feast last year at Natchez Trace, heard me play one of my songs titled, 'Daughter of the Commandment' which I also hope to share that with you as well.
               There will be new coming updates in the future for TKM, Yahweh willing. Now that we have the time, resources, and requirements for the club. Maybe one day we can re-open the membership for TKM, that way other maidens can post on the club! But only Yahweh knows. Also, if you have any song requests, I would love to makes songs for you! Don't hesitate. I am hoping I can start recording maybe either this evening, or tomorrow evening... depends. And I am praying that it is clear this Sunday that way I can begin filming.

Lies We Are Told

It has nearly been a year since I haven't posted, life has been so busy! Sorry for the delay.
I recently found a song sung by four talented young ladies. Elena, Mariah, Michaela, and Olivia shared a song about lies we are told.  I just love it, and I hope you all enjoy it.

A few months ago a fellow blogger, Danni from On the Way to Critter Farm

was giving away llama fur, so Mama thought it would

be fun for us to learn how to spin.

We thought it would be fun too, but first we had to 

find out what was needed to spin wool or llama fur.

The spinning wheels were out too much money to

learn on, the next option drop spindles.  As 

we were watching videos about drop spindles we

came across a video about a kick spindle.

As Mama studied the picture and watched the

video she thought it would be

a great learning experience for us to build our own, not

to mention less expensive then buying one.

So here we go, this was how we made our

kick spindles.

First, remove the stud from the bun foot

yay, got it!

drilling a center whole in the bun foot

cutting the dowel rod down to size

sharpening each end of the cut dowel rod

screwing in the hook at the end of the small rod

didn't get a pick of cutting down the larger dowel rod

but did get the pic of the 45 degree angle of the cut

drilling a hole in the larger rod for the small dowel rod to go through

gluing down the larger dowel to the base

Here is our kick spindles and yes that is

some of the llama fiber, it was still dirty but

we just had to try out the spindles and they

work beautifully!!

Since the llama fiber came straight off Kai, with

all the vm (vegetation matter), mud (not much) and 

what we think was a nice smell of llama,

 we couldn't spin it in this condition, so back to

google for some help and help we received.

We learned that the process of prepping the fiber was

SIMPLE!

Of coarse with the simplicity there was some very

important steps to follow in assuring that the fiber

would not felt in the process.

OK, the reason for taking the temp is we wanted to know

how hot the water was when we started.

a tablespoon of liquid Dawn Soap

Immerse/soak the fleece, it is important not to agitate or

move the fleece around too much, it can felt.  So, press it down

for about 30 seconds, release and let it alone!

Set the timer for 30 min.

When the 30 minutes are up, take the temp of the water, this is an

important step, because fluctuation of water temps can,

yes you guessed it, felt the fiber.

ever so gently squeeze just once maybe twice the excess water

out of the fiber, why gently... don't want to felt the fiber

Kai's fleece didn't look that dirty to us

but the water says other wise.  I found out while 

searching out about Llama's they love to roll in the dirt!

OK, to rinse the fiber they filled the tub with the same temp water no soap this
time and immersed the fiber again, just hold under for about 30 seconds and let it alone

after 30 min, gently squeeze the excess water out

Well, the water isn't very clear so they rinsed again 

since I posted the pics of the first rinse I didn't

see the need to repeat, so no pics of the second rinse

We gently placed the wet fiber onto a thick dry towel, rolled it

up and walked on it.  We did this twice with a fresh dry towel

because we didn't have any framed screen to dry it outside

in, it worked for us.  The result dry fiber!

After the fiber dried, it needs to be picked out, to loosen it up and

free the fibers of any mats.  While doing this process we removed

the vm we missed the first round.

another day ;-)

A Lesson on Modesty

 

This was one of my assignments for my Bat Mitzvah curriculum this year.  I had to write or make a

poster about modesty.  I posted it here since Ms. Pamela had posted a video about modesty last week.

Baby Gift Giving Maidens

Last Sunday, Yom Reshon, Our Family was invited to a dear friends Baby Shower.  Needless to say we were ecstatic about going!  Our gifts we showered on little Elisheva were knitted, crocheted, and sewn by machine.

We gifted her with knitted baby booties, bibs, a cotton dress, knitted sweater, knitted hat, crochet wash cloths, and crochet baby blanket. 

Our Friends live about an hour and fifteen minutes away... when we arrived there was much joy and excitement.

Little Elisheva was so tiny and sweet, just like her momma and aunties!  It was a fun filled day with games, fellowship, collecting eggs.... yes, we collected chicken eggs for the first time in our lives, goat feeding and just learning the ways of homesteading. 

As we said our good byes it was hard to leave, but we were filled with the hopes of returning soon.

 

 

As we laid down to sleep, we reminiscence on the day and how blessed we were to be part of this special family lives.  Yahweh is so very good!  Blessed be his name!

Singing Maidens

These are a couple of songs I've learned

to play on the guitar... I'm still learning so

it might sound a bit off.

The second song, "Sukkotah Shalomah"

is a song I wrote.  I was inspired by the

phrase we used as a wall hanging we

created for our Sukkah.

Guitar Playing Maidens

About two weeks, after Sukkot, my Daddy comes

home with this huge box...

What's in the box Daddy?
Such fun trying to figure out what could it be...

First he took out what looked like a backpack

folded up on itself, wrapped in plastic.... huh?

Why did you buy a backpack?

Then as he was pulling out more smaller boxes, I opened

the backpack... and it wasn't a backpack but,

a gig bag for a guitar!!!


Squills of excitement filled the room...

"Daddy, Daddy did you get me my guitar?"

OK, I'm going to backtrack a bit and tell
what happen before I received this gift...

almost a year ago...

I started saving my money to buy a guitar,

I thought I would have to save a lot of money to buy a nice guitar,

until a friend told us that the Toys-R-Us store had

guitars for twenty four dollars! I thought

"Gee! I've just got enough money!" So about a week later,

we were at the toy store picking which guitar I wanted, there

were many different colors to pick from,

pink, blue, black. etc. First I wanted a pink guitar,

until I saw that the rosette

it said 'ROCK STAR!' sooo I didn't choose the pink one.
I don't want to be a rock star I just
want to worship Yahweh through music.

Oh, I love the color blue... but the flames made

it look more boyish than girlish... soooo

I moved on to the next color... natural... hum... well that's more like me.
So natural it was, and this is what it looked like...

Once I got it home and started fiddling with it,
I realized that maybe it wasn't such a good
deal after all. It never stayed in tune, well actually
I don't think it ever was in tune... now, I understand
that if your going to invest in a guitar and be
serious about your playing it's best
to spend more money for a better
guitar.

I was wanting a nicer guitar, but spent my money on
the toy one. So I asked my Daddy if I were
to learn three songs on this little guitar would
he be willing to buy me a nicer one?

He said it was a deal!! Yes!! now all I had to
do was to learn two more songs, I had already
learned one, 'How great is our El'

But, soon I became discouraged because no matter,
how well I learned the songs, if the guitar is not
in tune, it sounds terrible. Soon, the guitar
was left in it's box over in the corner. I didn't loose
interest but was discouraged, because I love
beautiful music and the only time the
guitar made beautiful music is when
it was in it's box, lol.

One month ago....
I found my encouragement, my
inspiration at Mousetail Landing State Park.
It was during Sukkot, the Fournier's were
hosting the gathering and nearly each
night we would all gather at their
campsite for worship, testimonies, and
fellowship.
It was the worship time and the beautiful
worship music that inspired me.
I wanted my family to worship
together with music like the
Fourniers. I wanted to play
like they did. So I committed
myself to learn those two songs
and get my 'real' guitar. And that's
what I did. When we got home I had my guitar
in my hands as often as I could. I practice,
no matter how horrid it sounded and
I learned my three songs :-D

Then I had Daddy listen to all three songs and
reminded of our agreement.
He said, 'well, we did agree and you did fulfill your end
of the bargain so I guess I'll have to get you your guitar"

I thought for sure we would go guitar shopping the next
day or two. But no, I asked again and he said
he'll take care of it and not to worry about it.

about two weeks ago...
here is what was in the box

On a final note YahChanna has inherited my Toys r Us guitar. With the Chromatic Tuner we are able to tune both guitars and you know what, that little guitar sounds pretty good now!!

So I have or should I say we have exchanged our recorders for guitar lessons and now on Shabbat's or in the evening we can sit around play music, sing and worship together as a family, just like I had hoped we would :-) Because now I have learned not only three songs but seven so far. Yahweh is good to his children!!

Candy Making Maiden

We needed caramels for our pie tonight, we didn't go to the store

to buy them because what they had put in the caramels, so

we decided that we would make our own!

First we mixed all the ingredients, poured them in a pan,

then turned the pan on and began to cook it, and stuck a

thermometer inside. Then, we waited till it reached 250 degrees.

Once it reached 250 degrees, it looked like this! and
increases three times it's size.


Then we poured it in a lightly greased pan, and waited
for it to cool.

Once cooled...

we sliced the caramel into strips

then cut them into squares

And now! here they are! All nice and wrapped up!

Plus their good tasting too!
