Singing Maidens

These are a couple of songs I've learned
to play on the guitar... I'm still learning so
it might sound a bit off.

The second song, "Sukkotah Shalomah"
is a song I wrote.  I was inspired by the
phrase we used as a wall hanging we
created for our Sukkah.

I've learned these two songs on the
guitar, like AbbiYah I'm still learning :-D

  2. Very, very good! Keep up working on those chords- I know how hard they can be! ;) AbbiYah, you may want to think about a smaller guitar, at least for now, or maybe holding it at a different angle (seems like you have to reach way far up for chords). When I started playing at 14, I had an adult size and even then the guitar was too big. Of course, you can still use an adult size, it just might be easier for you to learn and get the feel of chords on a smaller size.

My sister (who, doesn't even play guitar!) gave me the best advice ever- when you strum a chord, strum each string separately and see if you're pressing down hard enough for a clear sound to come through. I found out that I wasn't pressing hard enough in most cases, thus getting a muddy/stifled sound.

If either of you need any tips or advice, I'm no expert but I love playing it and would be more than happy to help if you need it!

AbbiYah, your song was beautiful- keep up the song writing!! Looking forward to more clips of your work (both you and YahChannah!)

  3. Sigalit Channa~ thanks for the encouragement:-)

Miss Toria~ thanks for the advice, I think maybe I'm not pressing on the chords hard enough. About the size of the guitar it is an adult size and I know it looks awkward but for some reason the guitar looks bigger in the video than in real life? The reason I'm holding it so high is because in the lesson video we have Jean Welles says it's best to hold it high... I found it uncomfortable at first but I think I'm used to it now :-)
Thanks for all your help and please feel free to give advice and tips as you see we need them. I'll be sure to keep you in mind when needing help (which is a lot ;-) lol thanks for the encouragement and the great advice

    Shalom
