Enjoy!!

Hebrew Blessing of the Bread

We are learning Hebrew, it was hard at first, but slowly we are progressing.
Here is a little video of the first part to the Hebrew Blessing of the Bread.

Garden Days

Hi, I am Halea. I just turned 13, and it is my desire to be a Torah Keeping Maiden of Yah! I also did not like being involved with the G.S. so, I am super exited about this club (blog). Thanks for letting me join!

I am waiting for my Keeper of the Home handbook.
So, I thought I would share with you some things I did in the garden...
I like to help my mom work in the garden.
Here we just collected lettuce and strawberries.

This is our growing garden...

We have lots of veggies and herbs planted in the picture above. And below is our corn and more herbs (although some of the seed we just planted, so they haven't sprouted yet.)

I helped my mom plant blueberry and thornless blackberry bushes.

Here is where my mom planted the Mammoth Sunflowers. I put the border in around them.

Then I did the clean up of the old dead leaves and grass.

I want to learn about gardening so that one day I will be able to provide food from my own yard, for my own family.

Wild Violets ~ Viola Odorata

Today mama, Yahchanna, and I went foraging for wild violet's,
we found a whole bunch! We didn't find them in direct sun light,
we found them in a shaded areas, they come in different variety's
of colors, Such as, white, blue, purple, yellow,
lavender, and red. This is my first video, and I was really nervous!
I was so nervous that I forgot to mention the leaves
are heart shaped, and the plant only grows
four inches high. So if you ever see a heart
shaped leaf on a vine or a tall plant, you
know that it isn't a violet plant.
You can harvest them three month's out of the year,
April, May, and June.
The violet has over nine hundred species,
and what I under stand is only the yellow violet has a look a like
which is the buttercup, which is DEADLY poisonous!

Some medicinal properties of the violet are:

  • anti-inflammatory which means
it will help relieve swelling, pain, and redness do to injury or illness
  • expectorant- An expectorant helps to dissolve the
thick mucus caused by a respiratory infection.
  • diuretic- a diuretic helps to remove
extra water build up in the tissues of the body.
  • laxative- helps to induce a bowel movement or to
    loosen the stools from constipation.
  • softens and smooths the skin

Topsy Turvey Dolls

This is a Topsy Turvey Doll.
Two dolls in one.
We found the pattern here, but
tweaked it a bit.
We didn't make the arms separate from the
body but made it one piece, cut it out as
one piece.
This is my doll. I wanted
one doll. One side she is awake
the flip side she is asleep.
her name is Jasmine. She isn't
finish yet, I still have to
make her sleeping cap. When
I'm finished I'll post a final
picture.
Here I am hand stitching
her dress.

Here is the embroidered face

Here I'm attaching her hair. I wanted her
to have braids. So I cut three strands, knotted
them in the middle, attached the knot to her
head and braided the six strands into
two braids

I wanted two dolls. A white doll and a black doll
both are babies.
Here I'm sewing the doll together

Here I'm embroidering the face on the white doll.

the face is finished!

Here is the finished white doll, her name Caroline.
My doll isn't finished yet, I'm working on the
dress of the black baby who's name
will be Sarah. When I finish her
I'll post pics of both dolls.

Here is little Caroline

The pattern we used for the dresses and
bonnets is Simplicity 4707

Our mom enlarged the pattern on PagePlus a free
a desktop publishing program that she uses to makes
lapbook templates, cards, worksheet,
and lots of other things

Learning to read Hebrew

We are trying to learn how to read
in Hebrew. Our mom made
us some flash cards to play games
with. One of our favorite games
is called BAM. All the cards
are placed in the bucket and
each player gets to draw out one card and
say it's name, sound and ancient name
and sound. If it is correct the player
keeps the card if not it goes back
in the bucket. Each player does this,
now the fun part is when someone pulls
out a BAM card, that mean they have
to put all the cards they have collect back in the bucket...
oh it's so much fun!!

There are three different decks of cards momma made:
Modern Hebrew letters
Ancient Hebrew pictographs
and a deck that has both.

We use Hebrew Made Easy book and
we also learn from
Ancient Hebrew and
Hebrew 4 Christians

Hebrew Blessing

We learned how to sing a Hebrew Blessing

Gardening

We have no place to keep a garden were we live,
so my granny is letting us use a section in
her backyard.
Mama says it's our garden this year.
here are a few pick of us pulling up the weeds,
getting the ground ready to plant seeds.

Our granny got most of the weeds out before
we came over, she left us
a small section to work on.
we dug up under the weeds and pulled up the weeds
by the roots, then we shook out all the dirt

see the pile of weeds behind YahChana...woo, it
was hard work!
We planted summer squash, zucchini, green beans, tomatoes, and bell peppers
seeds. And the banana peppers, cauliflower, and green onions were
small plants.
Oh yeah we also planted four sunflower seeds.

We came across some wild garlic so we didn't throw them
away, we just transplanted them in at the corner of
the garden next to our sunflower seeds.
